Current on my Pickle Adventures + Categories

2010
02.26

I spent a lot of time updating the website tonight, and I am happy to say that all of my pickle adventures are up to date and on record in the “Pickles I Enjoyed in February,” section of my website.  Lots of text and pictures have been displayed, so take a look around and enjoy your stay at JMLP.  Also, every post has been given a new category, so it should be easier to find older entries.  Check out all of the Independent Pickle manufacturers I have featured by clicking on the “Independent Pickles” link below the post from earlier today.  Happy Pickles!

Independent Pickler of the Week: Bob’s Pickle Pops

2010
02.25

Granted Bob’s Pickle Pop’s aren’t exactly independent pickle manufacturers, they certainly aren’t as well known as other pickle suppliers.  If you don’t know what pickle pops are, please allow me to explain.  It’s basically a Popsicle that is made entirely of pickle juice.  Sounds delicious, right?  Well, if a frozen rod of pickle juice is anyway near as delicious as the pickle it yielded, then I am completely sold.  Here’s the link:

So, if you’re curious about what this would taste like, I highly recommend you speak with Bob of Bob’s Pickle Pops.  Let me know how it goes.  Much love from JMLP.

Bread and Butter + “New” Brands

2010
02.23

First of all, as a visual learner, I think this is the easiest way to demonstrate exactly what I think of B&B “pickles…”

That about sums up my attitude toward those little bastards.  On a good note, I did purchase a couple of jars of pickles that I have no prior experience with.  Check out “Pickles I Enjoyed in February,” sometime tomorrow to get the scoop on both Nathan’s pickles and Richfood (Shoppers Brand) pickles.  Exciting stuff is happening at JMLP.  Stay Tuned!

Logos, Logos, Logos…

2010
02.21

I’ve had these up on on the Facebook fanpage for a while but I just realized I hadn’t put them up on the actual site.  Here are a couple of prototypes that I am pretty happy with.  Any ideas would be gladly accepted.  Leave some feedback.

This first logo is just some basic text that could be put onto anything pickle related.  I am definitely loving the font.  Really strong as a foundational design for a logo.

Another really cool looking logo that sums up this website in a nutshell, bringing pickles to the foreground of the culinary universe.

This last one has to be my favorite so far.  Can you imagine “John Mudd Loves Pickles” as a brand of pickles…?  That would be insane.  Anyways, thanks to my sister Maggie for putting these together for me.  Send me some suggestions for where you would like to see the JMLP logo next.

A Very Special Update

02.21

I have a new pickle experience that you can read all about in the “Pickles I Enjoyed in February,” section of JMLP.  I’m really excited since there are a couple of guest appearances in today’s post.  Read all about it and leave a comment for me.  Happy Pickles everybody!

Independent Pickler of the Week: Pickle King

2010
02.18

Pickle King is a pickle supplier located in New Jersey, offering qualities pickles to the public since 1958.  Anybody who calls their pickles “World-Famous,” has to have the proof to back up their claim, and I believe that this so-called Pickle King realizes that.  The company offers a wide variety of flavors, cuts, and sizes to the public, conveying that Pickle King understands one of the most overlooked aspects of pickles.  It’s obvious that P.K. realizes that pickles are not a “one size fits all” product, and tailors to their audience accordingly.  If you’re ever feeling frisky enough to order your pickles online, I highly recommend checking out what the Pickle King has to offer.  Check them out…HERE!

Koolickles

02.11

Just to preface this post, I did not edit the following photograph in any way.  This is an actual pickle, or should I say… Koolickle!

Seriously…?  This sounds amazing to me.  Combining two of my favorite things to create a completely new type of super-food!  What are they going to think of next?  Beer Flavored Ice Cream?  Taco’s made with Chinese Food?  The possibilities are endless!  If you’re interested in finding out more, just follow this link…

This way to Koolickles

All I know is that I definitely have a new pickle variety to experiment with the next time I get a chance.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

Independent Pickler of the Week: Picklelicious

2010
02.10

It’s Thursday, so that means that means it’s time for me to spotlight another independent pickle manufacturer.  Picklelicious has a couple of locations in the NY/NJ  area and prides themselves on a history rich with pickles.  Anybody that has this much pride in pickles deserves to be highlighted on this page.

Picklelicious Olde Tyme New York Style Pickles

Pickles are not a “one-size-fits-all” product, and Picklelicious is a company that recognizes that.  When it comes to variety, these guys have you covered.  Most notably, they offer a horseradish pickle that I am very interested in trying.  The company claims that the horseradish “not only spices things up but adds extra snap as a natural preservative.”  Check these guys out and let me know what you think.

New Logo…

Sometime soon (as in this week), I’m going to design and unveil a new logo for my website and entrepreneurial adventure.  If you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know what you think.  Check back soon.

T-Shirts

Some people have been inquiring about t-shirts, and I’m not sure what to do.  If you’re interested in getting one, let me know and I’ll see I how much it would end up costing.  Let me know whether you think this would be a good idea or not.
